Valdosta Georgia

Valdosta is making final preparations to host President Donald Trump, who will hold a campaign rally Saturday night. The president is scheduled to appear in Valdosta to campaign for Democrat David Loeffler in the runoff for the fourth U.S. Congress seat. Republicans are begging for Trump to stoke fears that voters will view the system as rigged and decide to sit out the two races. But the president's willingness to speak up for voters in Atlanta - the region that rejected him last month - has emboldened Republican officials who have pushed him to intervene in a runoff in favor of Ms. Loesffler and Mr. Perdue.

Trump's false claims resonated with the 61-year-old businessman, who had been listening to Pence in Savannah because he supported him in the runoff.

He said that for him and other Valdosta residents who identified as Trump supporters, the president's victory in his own backyard was a historic day. Few Republicans in Washington or Georgia believe that much of the electorate in the newfound battleground has turned away from voting after Georgia's governor and secretary of state certified Biden's victories in both states. But if even a modest number of Republicans were persuaded to sit out the Senate vote in rural areas where Mr. Trump's support is strongest, that might be enough to change the electoral math in an evenly divided state and leave the race to Democrats.

The risk for the GOP is that it doesn't require much of a drop - for a runoff to matter, even if it's as close as a presidential race. Democrats need a Georgia victory to force a tie-break vote between the 50 Senate seats and Vice President Kamala Harris, 50. President-elect Joe Biden won the state of Georgia in the 2016 presidential election by a margin of more than 2,000 votes over Hillary Clinton. Biden has won Georgia twice before, in 2008 and 2012, each by less than 1,500 votes.

At the time, it was claimed that Valdosta had managed to make the transition from city to city and that there had been continued dramatic growth. Economic conditions improved so much that in the 19th century it held a state fair, which seemed to mark the end of long economic difficulties. It reached three other railways, and during the Great Depression of the 1930s it began as a "tram" carrying passengers. The so-called "Dixie Line," a railway line connecting Chicago, Illinois, with Miami, Florida, included them.

Restored historic buildings include the Barber Pittman House, which houses the Chamber of Commerce, the former Carnegie Library housed in the Lowndes County Historical Society Museum, and the neoclassical Garden Club structure. On the premises there is a gift shop where you can buy stained glass and other items for sale, as well as a variety of books and bookshelves. Carnegie's Library was built in 1868, while the federal building that now serves as City Hall is the oldest building in Valdosta and one of only a handful of buildings in Georgia with such a name.

The brewery does not serve food, but you can import food or have it delivered to the brewery from local restaurants so you can enjoy your fantastic beer. Make sure to try one of their beers when you drink at Georgia Beer Co., and make sure to try their specialty beers as well as some of the other local beers.
